Back then, we were jamming and Dirk started to improvise something with the words Puerto Rico. I had just finished a book about a bullfighter who had gone through rough times to become one of the most famous toreros of all times. It inspired to write lyrics about a forbidden love affair between a young woman who still lives with her wealthy parents and a poor young man who dreams of making it abroad. I have traveled a lot and seen many parts of the world but for some reason I’ve never been to Puerto Rico. Maybe I should think about it before it’s too late?
